No Network conection Sim900

Hello, I received last week 3 GSM EFcom Sim900 Shield but I can't connect to the network at my country and try to do everything but I can not get connected, I use AT commands and libraries for Arduino GSM too.

I pressed the S_PWR button for about 3 seconds and start searching , then shows me the following:

yYYY
RDY

  • Cfun : 1

  • CPIN : READY

  • PACSP : 1

  • CREG : 0

  • CREG : 2

  • CREG : 1, " 010A ", " 7ED1 "

When i have lucky i can send and see:

AT + COPS ?

  • COPS : 0,0, "Claro GTM "

OK

and after that the shield is turned off and does nothing more.

Hi

I have the later model SIM800 running here in New Zealand.

Two key reasons seem to be an issue with my SIM800 connectivity - you need an antenna and you need a dedicated 4 volt input capable of delivery 2 amps. An Arduino cannot provide that much power.

Without a 2 AMP power supply a SIM800 will not complete the network login sequence and it likely to hang.

It is also the case that my SIM800's serial communications runs at 2.8 volts. To connect it to a 5 volt Arduino and get reliable communications I have to use a signal converter.
