I assume there is still no portable version of the IDE 2.x?
My current IDE is installed on a windows PC with internet connection, but it also means I got Windows updates now and then, which corrupt my graphics setup. So I want to disconnect the PC from the internet, but then the IDE protest.
Any suggestions how to solve this?
The IDE will still work. I no longer have access to IDE 2.x so can't check; but you can disable the check for newer versions of the IDE, board packages and libraries if I'm not mistaken.
Use IDE 1.8.19 and be free of the internet.
Tom..
You have always been in control of when windows updates are done. You can always set it to update on your schedule or request.
Windows 10 updates can be postponed up to 28 days (I think). Not longer. After that update is done automatically. I have tried lot of suggestion on how to stop updates. Nothing works.
@msiipola. Have you tried setting your Windows internet connection to "Metered"? Stopped all automatic updates for me.
I don't understand. Could explain more? Where do I find this setting?
Settings -> Network & Internet -> Status.
Then depending on your internet connection select "Properties" for Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Under "Metered connection" select <On>
for "Set as metered connection".
Windows apparently then assumes you have a limited bandwidth data plan and hopefully does not do automatic updates.
Choosing when to do updates becomes your responsibility.
Hope that helps.
