I just got a NodeMCU ESP8266 board and when I try to use the IDE, the port is grayed out. Please Help.

I don't think I installed any drivers so what would I need to install?
That would depend on which USB-TTL serial chip your NodeMCU has. I believe those use the CH340, which would be this driver:
