nokia 5110

I recently got a nokia 5110 lcd display. No matter, what I do, I can't seem to get it to work. I have downloaded all kinds of libraries and sample codes, and nothing works. The closest was this video Arduino Nokia 5110 LCD Tutorial #1 - Connecting and Initial Programming - YouTube after which I got the pixels to flash on then immediately turn off. So, clearly, the thing works, just for some reason, I can't seem to make it do anything. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might be able to try?

Edit: I briefly got it to work, but I removed it from the breadboard and plugged it a few pins up to see if the board might be the problem. And now it once again won't work. Backlight is fine, but no pixels.

It could be. I understand these are seconds, and they can be a bit flakey. The best one I have is fine so long as I don't touch it. The backlight and display are alien.

These are displays recelimed from mobile phones.

And yes they can be flakey.

Don't beat yourself up trying to get just one working, try a few, and see if you get the exact same symptoms with each one.

If you have wired it right, and the display is good then there is little point in trying lots of different libraries, the example code with a library would normally be expected to be good.

The typical 5110 display has 9 pogo pins on the underside and makes contact with 9 contacts on the PCB. The metal frame keeps the display pressed against the PCB. If you squeeze gently at the wider part of the metal frame, you should get it working.
