Noob Motor Sheild Question

Hello,

First Arduino project and have a (likely daft) question. I am using the DK electronics motor shield which does not offer passthrough for the digital ports. Could I solder wires to the already soldered digital ports to enable passthrough?

Thanks in advance for any help and sorry if this is obvious or has been covered many times.

Yes any pins not being used by the shield can have wires soldered on them to use them for other things.
