Noob User needs HELP! with project programing

I'm new and would be grateful for any help with this robot [sand table] (https://www.instructables.com/Easily-Build-a-MACHINE-THAT-DESTROYS-WHAT-IT-CREAT/) I'm having trouble with homing the stepper motors. they function fine moving forward or backward but when z axis moves left or right the x axis stepper rotates in the opposite direction it's supposed to. I didn't write or modify the code. I have checked the wiring 3x, I set the stepper drivers current, everything checks out. it must be something in the coding. I can provide any information needed. I wasn't sure how to include the code here, but I'll try to in a reply.
thank you in advance.

Test and swap the z stepper coils!

that was a good idea, someone on amazon said they had to switch the 2 inner wires on theirs... but alas, it didn't work on my situation.
thanks for the input

Maybe You didn't make the correct change?

Checking is not correcting. It is easy to look past something you "know" is good... when it is not. Find a friend to verify your drawing versus your actual wiring, or post a picture here.

The original site is here:

Git is here:

"The code" is on various controllers. RPi, Nano and Uno.

You should remove the motors from your project and create a stand-alone motor sketch that shows you that they are wired correctly... then re-connect the motors in the project.

I took everything out of the table & started over on a piece of plywood. there's not much wiring other than the stop switches. I tried to upload a video but "new users are not allowed to upload attachments" when given the homing cmd. it moves forward fine but both steppers make horrible noise when moving left or right. it performed G1 X50 Y100 F2000 with no problem.

Are we allowed to upload video? if so which format? I think it would be more helpful than me trying to describe it.

Will do, Thank you...
