Normal for Solid state relay?

Is it normal for DC solid state relays to act like a controllable diode? The ones I have work great but if the current flows one way it will flow no matter if the relay is on or off or maybe it becomes normally closed...not sure on that one and the other way it flows when the relay is on. depending on the polarity basically. I assume this is normal for the relay but I am wondering how this would work? Just more of a curiosity thing.

Cool that is basically what I had figured out, it can only control current flow in one direction. other way flows freely
