NOT ABLE TO GET MY MEGA 2560 BOARD IN DEVICE MANAGER

Dear all,

i just buy Arduino Mega 2560, online from E-bay. Recently, i upgrade my Arduino IDE software from Version 1.3.3 to Version 1.6.6 by unstalling the old one and installing new one.

Recently, i have done one project with Mega 2560 board and version 1.3.3 software, at that time it was showing board in device manager.Now, When i connect my board with PC (having windows 7 ultimate, 32-bit), it doesn't show anything in device manager.

Also, i notice that, when only usb cable is connected (i mean, board is powered on), and i press reset button, none of the LED blinks on board, is it OK????

Can anyone help me??? i can share more information if anybody wants...!!!

PLEASE DON'T SHOUT! Can you change the title please?

And the upgrade from 1.3.3 to 1.6.6 has nothing to do with it. Showing up in device manager is beyond the scope of the program. First Windows has to see the board (show in device manager) then all the IDE can do is use the board.

The not blinking doesn't sound right to me but it's been a long time since I used a Mega... An Uno/Pro Mini always blinks. Is the Power LED on?

Things you can try:

  • Try different USB cable
  • Try different USB port
  • Try different PC

It is unclear if this is a new board that never worked before?

What does Device manager show?

If nothing shows up - maybe just a defect board, it happens with cheap clones.
If unrecognized USB device, reinstall manually pointing to the Arduino driver folder.

If a COM port shows up several possibilities:

  • missing bootloader, also sometimes happens with clones. Repair with e.g. the excellent Nick Gammon bootloader
  • unprogrammed ATmega16U2 USB interface. Also possible to update its firmware.
  • is this a exact AT MEGa clone? I once bought a Freaduino which has a fake FTDI USB serial IC and obviously does not work with current drivers.

I would like to know when you connect usb weather in port section COM is detected or not. if detected whether high light with yellow mark??

if board not being detected . change the USB cable.
