Not in sync. What does that mean?

I keep getting this error message:
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 10 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x60
What can I do to fix it?

You should really have posted this in the "Installation & Troubleshooting" section, since it's not programming-related.

It's a very common problem, asked at least daily, and you'll find the most common solutions there.
