Not sure what board and library to use in Arduino for ESP32S/ESP32-CAM board

I bought these of of amazon, but exactly sure how to treat it in the ide.

I’ve tried using “AI Thinker ESP32-CAM” as one web page suggested. I loaded the ESP32 library as suggested.

It compiles, I get output to the serial monitor, but nothing as expected.

I set this up in Preferences:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/espressif/arduino-esp32/gh-pages/package_esp32_index.json

Just don’t know where I’m going wrong. I will upload the code after I post this from my phone.

/*
 * This sketch demonstrates how to scan WiFi networks.
 * The API is based on the Arduino WiFi Shield library, but has significant changes as newer WiFi functions are supported.
 * E.g. the return value of `encryptionType()` different because more modern encryption is supported.

#include "WiFi.h"

void setup() {
  Serial.begin(115200);

  // Set WiFi to station mode and disconnect from an AP if it was previously connected.
  WiFi.mode(WIFI_STA);
  WiFi.disconnect();
  delay(100);

  Serial.println("Setup done");
}

void loop() {
  Serial.println("Scan start");

  // WiFi.scanNetworks will return the number of networks found.
  int n = WiFi.scanNetworks();
  Serial.println("Scan done");
  if (n == 0) {
    Serial.println("no networks found");
  } else {
    Serial.print(n);
    Serial.println(" networks found");
    Serial.println("Nr | SSID                             | RSSI | CH | Encryption");

      Serial.printf("%2ld", WiFi.channel(i));

Hi @ddshack.

That is correct.

The Arduino sketch program that is running on the Arduino board is configured to communicate over the serial port at a specific baud rate. This is done via the Serial.begin function.

The sketch you are using contains this line

So this sketch program communicates over Serial at 115200 baud.

The Arduino IDE Serial Monitor must be configured for the same baud rate as set in the sketch program.

Check to make sure the selection in the menu at the top right corner of the Serial Monitor panel matches the baud rate in the sketch code. If not, select the correct baud rate and press the reset button on the board to restart the sketch program. Hopefully you will then see the expected output in Serial Monitor.

If things are not working as expected even with the correct Serial Monitor baud rate configuration, please let us know in a reply here and we'll suggest something else you can try.

Yay, success. Some other code I had tried reset the baud, so I got sidetracked. Thank you immensely.

Ok, trying different code to see if I can view the video stream. Gives error message:

The LED on the camera flashes though.

I'm reading some other threads that say some of these boards just don't work. Another thread says an ACK needs to be sent to the cam, but nothing in the code clearly spells this out.

Any ideas welcome.

Here is where it is resetting the baud rate on me:

Uploading stub...
Running stub...
Stub running...
Changing baud rate to 460800

I changed the camera model in the code to the AI Thinker. Not blowing up, but not connecting either. Just looping trying to connect. I double checked my ssid and password

Got it working. I was using the ssid and password on the router, not my wifi.
