Yo, i bought a prototyping shield from a local store. It is not an official one, but it works when i use it on my Arduino Uno board. However, not as well as i thought. It seems that i have to press on the prototyping shield hard to use it as a game controller.
So i am thinking of buying a new one online but i'm not sure if it will work well on my Arduino Uno board..
And i saw that there is a V3 & V5, what are the differences? Do both work on Arduino Uno?
Adafruit products designed by Ladyada are generally of excellent quality and are supported by their Q/A forums. Please ask your question directly to Adafruit:
It's really hard to "vet" a non-Arduino official product.
No, they don't have to be 'official'. Arduino open hardware.
Fungus is 100% correct in the statement.
However, as you currently know from the "i have to press on the prototyping shield hard to use it", open-hardware has no correlation to quality.
Fungus and I both use "clone". Some of these clone products may be licensed and some may not.
I would offer that companies such as Adafruit have a good reputation. http://arduino.cc/en/Main/FAQ
If you stray off the official distribution list, you may find some fantastic buys, or may get some junk... You take the total risk.
Both Amazon and Adafruit sell very fine proto boards and adafruit''s design is copied by many others so, I'd pick the best cost/delivery time compromise and go from there... Amazon has a slight edge if you are a Prime Member..
