Hello guys i am new in this sphere and soon i will purchase some stuff for my project. The problem is that i will need Arduino GSM shield which will be purchased from the site Arduino Official Store | Boards Shields Kits Accessories , but will need and GPS shield or module with breakout. Am looking in sparkfun but i realized that this https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12751 GPS with this BreakOut SparkFun GPS Breakout - BOB-11818 - SparkFun Electronics needs to be connected on 2 and 3 pin , which will be needed for GSM module too . So my question is what GPS and what shields or breakout should i use to connect them both to my Arduino. I will be glad to help me and tell me for widgets which contains a lot of useful information for begginers . ![]()
Try looking for a shield based on the SIM908. It is combined GPS & GSM/GPRS. However, I personally have no experience of the device...
Playing with shields, in my opinion, just complicates things. I played with the standard Arduino UNO configuration for a couple of years, until I discovered the Nano and the ProMini. The beauty of those boards is that you can solder header pins on them, plant them in a breadboard, wire them up and program them until you get it right, and then move them to a final circuit board as if they were one big chip. I bought an Adafruit "Ultimate GPS Breakout Board", and it interfaces to just about any pins you want to use on the ProMini or Nano. When your circuit is finished, the whole thing can be soldered together on a perf board or a circuit board. I do have a GSM shield for the Mega, but I haven't gotten around to using it. I wish some vendor would produce a Mega breakout board similar to the Nano.
