NRF2.4 Ping Pair Question

I would like to use the simple ping pair example in the RF library to communicate a few bits of information. I can get the ping to send the information, command to open a garage door and I can get the pong to return the door state. But I also need the pong to send a temperature and humidity reading. When I try to just send the temp/hum data like the door state, it doesn’t work (no data). Is there an easy way to do this?

I’m attaching the example code that I would modify. I can not post my attempt because, in frustration, I forgot to save as I exited the program. I have quickly noted what I want to do.
