nRF24L01 module check if transmitter is responding

Hello. I am currently using the nRF24L01 module to setup a wireless connection between two arduino's. I am currently stuck trying to check whether the transmitter radio is working at start up:

if (!TransmitRadio.begin()) {
Serial.println("Transmitter Radio not responding! ");}

The code gives the error :

could not convert 'TransmitRadio.RF24::begin()' from 'void' to 'bool'

Check your wiring and head to post 30 for the checkconnection.ino sketch.
