i wanted to build a rc car and i wanted to know: can i use the nrf24 with the antenna on my controller with the nrf24+ on my car? will i lose range? i was wondering about this because only the controller sends the RF, and the car only receives the signal so since the controller range is large the car wouldn't need to have a large range to receive the signal.
I think that should work fine. I have had a pair of the low power nRF24s (with PCB antenna) working at 110m range outdoors with clear line of sight. With the high power module the range should be considerably longer.
AFAIK most of the off-the-shelf 2.4GHz RC controllers use those nRF24 modules or their Cypress equivalent. (The Nordic and Cypress modules don't work with each other).
i'll try this out then. since the antennaless version is more cheap, i'll save a few bucks buying one of each instead of 2 with the antenna, and i'll be able to have a car without the antenna hanging out.

There are high power versions of the NRF24L01 modules that have an onboard antenna.
