Object Tracking with a Pan Tilt Head Laser

We have a project about tracking an object with a pan tilt head laser. Firstly, we will get the object size, orientation and location by using Opencv with Visual C++. These information will be sent to Arduino as an input. After detecting the coordinates of the object, the pan tilt head laser will get these coordinates from Arduino and track the object.
So far, we are able to find the object size, center and coordinates. Now, we need an Arduino.Here's the question;
What kind of Arduino (model) is sufficient for our project??

If a Mega can't do it, then you are outside Arduino territory.

Assuming you just want the Arduino to move the pan and tilt head with the Arduino and the object recognition and measuring the coordinates of the object is done by your PC and the Arduino just gets the target coordinates via USB/serial and needs to move the laser. In this case, any Arduino will do, an Uno or Duemilanove would probably preferable to the Mega as you get motor shields for those. The main question in this scenario is what kind of electronics do you need to drive your motors. If the pan & tilt head is driven just by a bunch of RC-servos, you can connect them directly, if you have some kind of motor attached, you will need some motor driver to handle the involved currents properly. The software side will be a rather simple Cartesian to Polar coordinate conversion, the control of the pan and tilt head and processing the serial input from the PC, which shouldn't pose a problem for any Arduino.

As an alternative for this kind of application, you will also get away with an USB-Bitwhacker with the appropriate motor drivers, but I guess the cost savings won't be that big.

I am the partner of Murat Erdal, we bought Arduino, however, we can not find a proper pan tilt head, Could someone please give us an advice in that?

you need to search for pan tilt brackets for servo's

Depends if the laser is a 10kW CO2, or a 1mW pointer.
Also depends on how fast you need to pan/tilt, and how accurately.

How big is what you need to pan/tilt?
