Obtain an IP-Address on the ARDUINO Ethernet

I'm trying to connect an arduino ethernet (with no USB-hub). How can I obtain an IP-Address on the device so it will work as a webservice. How can I put the necessary scriots on the device.

The Arduino Ethernet is connected to our network, but no IP-Address is available for it.

Thnx, Jan

Do you mean the ETHERNET SHIELD ?

Unsure what you mean by no usb hub please explain in more detail.

Usually you would set the IP address in the Ethernet.begin() call. You can also use DHCP to be assigned an IP address. You can determine the IP address of your device using Ethernet.localIP(). All this is explained in the library reference: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Reference/Ethernet

and demonstrated in the example sketches for the library found at File > Examples > Ethernet, which are further explained in the tutorial pages: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/LibraryExamples#ethernet
