Odd datasheet question for RFID reader

Hello,

I recently got a Seeed studio RFID reader, and am on the way to getting started.
One odd request that the datasheet asks for, is to "please cut off the connection between P1 and
UART via a little knife, and solder P1 and I2C together" (Pg. 7) so that its I2C library can be used.

I'm unsure of how to do that exactly; I haven't seen something like this before.

The picture makes the meaning of the sentence perfectly clear. Cut one connection and make another. This is a very common way to select options on a printed circuit board, semipermanently.

I have limited experience modifying PCBs
Do I literally gnaw down the route that goes from P1 to UART with a knife?

Cut the connection cleanly with a very sharp knife or razor blade, possibly in two places so you can lift a sliver of the copper trace off the board.
