i have looked at all sorts of methods to fix it. i even reset my PC but it wont work. i replaced the cable too, tried differen USB ports and installed all sorts of driver updates. nothing works!
PLEASE HELP!

When you press and release the reset button, does the L-LED fade in and out for approx. 8 seconds?
If yes, what happens in Windows device manager during those 8 seconds? Do you get an Arduino Leonardo boot loader entry under the ports section?

What is the history of the board? Did it work in the past?

It has always worked. It does flash in COM for a few seconds before turning to the error message.

It should not flash but fade in and out.

And you did not answer the question what happens in device manager after the reset.

I told you. It goes into ROM device for a few sefonds before the screen flashes and i get the error

i will just accept the L and buy a new board bro. it's not worth it. it's a hardware issue it could be anything. the computer recognizes my NANO and UNO also so it's the leonardo's fault

Whenever you break something, blame the inanimate object.

Tell your parents to read this to keep you from breaking other boards.

https://docs.arduino.cc/retired/getting-started-guides/ArduinoLeonardoMicro/

I have been learning Arduino for 4 years. sometimes things just break. it is not a software issue i have tried different computers, cables, drivers and operating systems. i posted on a forum out of desperation, i hate asking people for help but it was the only viable option. instead of insulting others you should learn to read. i didn't say i wasn't at fault until I discovered the problem is in fact the Arduino. you shouldn't join conversations without adding anything useful. this is a forum but you turned it into an
unnecessary conflict. the forum rules are :
"Be kind to your fellow community members.
Does your reply improve the conversation?
Constructive criticism is welcome, but criticize ideas, not people."
you broke all three. you can take your anger out on people online but it wont solve anything in your life.

I see you have replied to others this way too. Sadly the website isn't moderated. You only say these things because you know you won't have any consequences. You don't have to always say your opinion no matter what. you didn't help anyone with this. waste of your own time not mine.

In stead of throwing a fit and blaming the board, why not follow the advice and piece-together what you have at hand. I know you will not read what I wrote because I did not ignore that you blamed your board, that is why I suggested someone who also understands you to lend a minute or two. How is that unkind? I questioned the idea of you blaming your hardware. Try not being offended at everything.

How is getting you to learn about your board a waste of my time? Life is rough.

you're right. I get it. I didn't throw a fit though. I just said I'll buy a new board since it is the problem in this situation. It might've been my user error of breaking it but i should've just said that it is a hardware issue and not a software one

I didn't specify. this argument is a waste of your time. not my learning

Give your other advice a chance. You are not the first person to fight against help. Flag my posts and have them removed. Just stop blaming the hardware.

It is a hardware issue. if it was software it would've been solved by now. just broken hardware you get it? not broken code. not broken drivers. broken hardware.

Someimes you need to solve the problem, not the symptom. Blaming the hardware is solving the symptom, when the problem still exists.

wouldn't you be upset if something worth half your monthly pay would be broken?

understandable. but the problem is I broke the board. not the cable or the computer software. the problem is me not the physical arduino

I take very good care of high value items. I have a bicycle that I have been riding tens of thousands of miles since 1987. Works today just like the day I bought it. Sounds like you do not respect the hardware.

i do too. i have a Samsung S6 edge that I used since 2019. but mistakes happen. with electronics you can mess up even if you have the technical skills needed
