Oled displays difference between 0.96 and 1.3''

Hello all, Oled display with adafruit SSD1306 library.
There are two types the 0.96'' version and the 1.3''
The 1.3'' version requires two pull up resistors from SCK and SDA. The 0.96'' version does not (i think they are allready there on the module)
I took me hours of struggling to figure this out.

Go on. Post links to the items that you are discussing. e.g. Ebay sale page (that has photos of pcb)
Or just take photos of the pcb(s) on your desk.

Regarding pullup resistors.

  1. you should only have one set for the bus when you have multiple slaves.
  2. it is not fatal if you have multiple sets of pullups. Just be careful with the effective value.
  3. you can detect external pullups e.g. with hd44780 library diagnostic sketch
  4. you can always detect external resistors with your eyes or a DMM.

But the main advice is always : Post link to your display. It removes any doubt or ambiguity.

Regarding 0.96 inch and 1.3 inch. Common controllers are SSD1306, SH1106, SSD1315. Without clues from the pcb photo we can only guess.

Oh, I can diagnose SSD1306, SH1106, SSD1315, SSD1309, ...
