Once upon a time,

in the early 1980's, I worked for an electronic component distributor. One of the items they sold was an LCD/LED (seven segment) bezel, which was effectively a plastic picture frame to cover the edges of hole in the instrument panel that the display could be seen through. The LCD ones also had a polarising filter if required (turned through 90 degrees reversed the display!), whereas LED ones would include a colour filter.

If, after all that waffle, you know what I'm on about, can you still buy similar things today?
