Online store

I am thinking of having an online store. I'd be able to ship within 1 to 2 days from the Midwest region. Any certain items you fellas would like for me to stock?

Definitely stock ATmega328/168 if you can. Those are hard to come by from usual suppliers (Digikey, Mouser, etc.)

That's one of them on the list. All are on backorder. I'm doing some checking on the 328s.

Shields? I dunno, where are you going to be located? Hmm... And definitely the ATmegas with bootloader.

Those headers (pin/socket)? There are not many places selling them.

Yes indeed. Please stock the long female headers (for making stackable shields.

Also, if possible, please stock these too:

You can contact that guy and ask if you can stock them I would think.

How about standard 28 pin sockets (spring, machine, and ZIF) for the DIP 168/328?

Also - how about "bare" prototype shield PCBs with the pins laid out properly (weird spacing for the headers), one pad per hole (or a pattern), nothing else on it? Offer it "bare", or as a simple kit with headers.

You could expand on that by making a "ZIF socket Arduino shield" kit (with all of the above, plus resonator, caps, etc), to allow for easy reprogramming of bootloaded 168/328s...

Sidebar: It looks like Evil Mad Science has 328s. Look for "unprogrammed" in the list. They're a bit expensive...

I might have some atmega in couple weeks. There's no way I could be a distributor for atmel. So the only suppliers would be mouser, digikey, etc. I plan on getting 50 pieces of the 328s.

I've actually been in the process of setting up an online store... shipping from the Northern Illinois area. I hope to specialize in some custom Arduino shields and devices built around the Arduino platform. Definitely have some ideas for devices for the Amateur Radio community. I plan on launching in the middle of May, might even have some Atmega328 DIP's by then.

But to stay more on topic. I think it would be great to have another source in the area. I love being able to order things regular shipping and have them the next day. Which seems to not happen much in this area.

My online store will be at http://www.jkdevices.com

Heh, this seems to be a popular thing to do right now. I just opened my store as well at chestersgarage.com with a grand total of ONE product (but in 4 variations!)

There are a few things that are hard to get these days and there are a few things people will buy from you if they are already buying something else and want to consolidate their orders to save shipping - as long as your price is fairly close to the other stores. Both will help boost your volume. The "stackable headers" for Arduino shields is one of those things that people will buy to consolidate orders. Also the common values of certain components like pots, or LEDs and jumpers for example.

But your core product line should be things specific to your store - such as your own shields, kits or whatever you can bring to the table. Macetech.com and dimensionengineering.com are good examples of that and I would like to think my store will be too, someday.

I have some tlc5940s. I am going to try a max7219 that came in. I'm low on funds ATM but I'll be ordering more parts. I wanted get it all done within a couple weeks but that not happening :stuck_out_tongue:
