OpenBeacon active RFID tags with Arduino, do they compatible?

Hey guys I am new here and I just got myself a Arduino Ethernet and can't wait to do something with it. So I am going to make an access control for my house door. I need to make it in a way that when I walk to the door, it automatically unlocks when I am 3-4 meters away. I found OpenBeacon active RFIDs that are compact and easily fit my wallet (I hope). However I don't know what sort of reader I should buy so I can connect the reader to Arduino and control the door luck by Arduino.

OpenBeacon sell a reader, but it is USB and I am pretty sure I won't be able to connect USB to arduino and read the data off the USD receiver. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks

However I don’t know what sort of reader I should buy

You need to buy one that is compatible with the tags that you have.

OpenBeacon sell a reader,

Oh, good.

but it is USB and I am pretty sure I won’t be able to connect USB to arduino

That depends on whether or not you have a USB Host shield, and whether the device is really a USB device, or whether it simply uses a USB style cable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Same as always. Don’t expect us to guess. Post links.

Thanks for your time. Here is the tag. it uses nRF24L01 chip: http://www.openbeacon.org/OpenBeacon_Tag

Here is the USB receiver: http://www.openbeacon.org/OpenBeacon_USB

Here is a guy reviewed these devices few years ago: http://amal.net/?p=247

My guess is that the receiver output is serial and it is then converted to USB using serial to USB chip. I asked Amal, the guy who reviewed these devices, that if it is possible to get serial data out of receiver so I can inject them to Arduino. and his answer was: "I suppose you could find the data line on the PCB that goes into the USB chip and splice into it, then you should be able to get TTL data from the PCB and dump that into the Arduino."

However my electronic knowledge is limited and I am not too sure if I would be able to follow the circuit and find the data line. I know there is a wireless module out there made for Arduino and the module is based on same wireless chip as these devices (nRF24L01). If I use this module, do you think I would be able to communicate with these active tags?

Or do you have any other solution in your mind?
