Optiboot and old Mega 1280 (ftdi) upload speed

Hi, there is a chance to get a higher upload speed in the mega1280 (ftdi) with optiboot?

I burned the firmware with a cheap avrasp and everything works well in my Uno and my Mega1280, but I can't use "megao.upload.speed=115200" as speed because I get:

avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00 avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51

Everything goes well with the default "mega.upload.speed=57600" (but testing a large sketch 80k takes like 1 minute in every upload!)

Any hint?

optiboot would probably have troubles with the pieces over 64K; it makes a lot of simplifications, and I suspect that that is one of them...

You SHOULD be able to recompile the old (ATmegaBOOT) bootloader with the speed set to 115200; there might have been timing issues that cause that not to work.

Hi, it is compilled to 115200, the ftdi is configured to 115200 but does not work if I set 115200 in boards.txt for some reason :(

I tested compiling it to half the cpu_freq (8 mhz) and also the double of the speed 230400 just to test variables... without success. I will try to compile the older atmega boot to 115200 to see what happens.

Nobody ever achieved 115200 bauds in the Mega 1280? :(
