Is this a local setting? Pressing the alerts and emails button gives me an orange "loading" signal, but it never works.
Oh, didn't you know, it's one of the many new features.
I find it really helps with keeping my mailbox less cluttered.

Known bug.
It's been known (and not fixed) for so long it's now a feature. 
Has the Arduino team all retired / resigned? We haven't heard anything from them for a long time and I have not noticed any changes to the Forum either.
Maybe they had a serious look at the state of affairs and said "Sheesh - I'm outta here"
