OK, since no one has done a really comprehensive tutorial on this [and I mean, one that holds your hand through all of the steps], here it is:
- Start your post by, first typing some text [or else it will complain when you Post]. Then, add, as attachment(s), the one or more images you plan to use in your post. If the Attachments and other options widget is not showing, click the Preview button. After the page reloads, the widget should be there.
Click on Attachments and other options, then click Choose Files [under the Attach: heading],
then navigate to your image file(s) and select it/them.
If you want to attach multiple images, you can Click on the first image, and then Shift-Click to select a range of images, OR Ctrl-Click to cherry pick images.
- NOTE:* I you are a person with good organizational skills, you might, first, compose your post in a word processor--you know--to get it all planned out and such. Then, in the Forum editor [i.e. after hitting the Reply or Quote button], type in all your text, then proceed to Step 2.
- Click the Post button. This will "publish" your post. It will be incomplete, but that can't be helped. It's the nature of the beast--unfortunately.
- Find the attachment [or first attachment, if you're managing multiple images]
and Right-Click on it
This will open a Right-Click Menu. Find and click on Copy link address. If you are working with multiple images, I suggest you open something like Notepad, and label and paste the URL for each image, so you will have them for later [and not have to keep posting over and over to grab the next URL].
- Find the More widget
and hover the mouse pointer over it. This will open a Dropdown Menu.
Click Modify. This will re-open the post for editing. - In your post, click where you want to place the image, then find the Insert an image widget and click it
This will open the Insert an Image dialog box
In the URL: box, paste the URL you copied in step 3, then click the Insert button. The image should appear at the position where you clicked, at the beginning of this step.
If there are multiple images, then repeat this step for each URL you saved [i.e. by pasting in Notepad, or whatever text editor you used]
- Click the Save button.
That's it...you're done.
BTW: Notice how all the images used in this post, are listed below as attachments.
