Tried to compile a sketch, it had some errors. But the output window where the results are usually shown was empty.
So decided to check preferences which was also empty.
Not sure if it's relevant. I opened an existing sketch by double-click in Windows file explorer and saved it as timing_1x420 which I next saved that as timing_7x60 and I worked on the latter, All three instances were open.
Additional observation:
I did check github but could not find something similar; will log it if it was not reported before.

but unfortunately I don't see any "smoking gun" in the logs. The errors I do see might be symptoms of an existing bad state of the application rather than the cause of the bad state.
