OVerpowered an attiny85, should it still be fine?

I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in the microcontroller section, anyways, after moving my attiny project onto a perfboard and soldering many difficult wires and connections, I accidentally powered it with 8 volts.

Now, all 3 leds which I have on it lit up, (they go into a chaser on normal functioning), however, I hooked it up to 5 volts and it did the first part of the script fine, but did not do anything else.

So my question is, is the controller still fine, and I just need to reprogram it, or is it fried?

Your chip is in a quantum-cat-like state.

To open the 'box' you need to try reprogramming it.

Well, I'll hook some wires up and give it a test at report back.

Got the error "invalid device signature".

Guess it's pooched, onto re-doing a bunch of soldering :confused:
