We are a US-based startup getting ready to launch a line of Arduino robot toys. We have built our own custom web-based IDE (Monaco based) so the kids can tweak/hack their robots.
PROJECT
Contract with a licensed developer to build & sign the custom Arduino Create Agent across multiple operating systems - MacOSX apps / X-code, PC - bundle and compile, Linux). The agent is ready with a custom configuration.
NOTES
Build infrastructure that builds artifacts, signs artifacts and are ready to be consumed.
Arduino create agent uses âGoLangâ (well known for cross-compiling support). Arm configurations for those machines as well.
We need to sign these things so that the install is seamless.
We have to factor in⊠does the system already have the arduino create agent installed?
TIMING
ASAP! We move very fast.
PAY
We can do project-based or hourly. Given the tight timing, we will be generous.
If you own the project and code, the signing or notarizing would need to be under your name and with your company âs signing certificate. You canât outsource this to someone else signing your code on your behalf.
Apps bridging a web browser and the hardware (eg usb and serial port or local network) are of great risk being abused by hackers (they give relatively low level access from the server / internet to the machine with a process running in user space or worse if custom drivers are involved on some platforms) .
No developer in his right mind would agree to sign with his own companyâs certificate some apps he does not control.
May be itâs my background working years with security specialists teams but I find the ask somewhat suspicious.
You should come clean about who you are, get your own developer accounts and signing certificates and if you donât know how to package a product for shipping hire contractors skilled in the domain who will be working under your supervision to get the packages ready to sign and submit. At that point youâll click on the button to make it happen without giving away your precious signing rights to anyone found in a forumâŠ
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you describe "build an installer for Windows, Mac and Linux for out software" - which would be covered by all installer builders out there. If things were that easy I'm sure you'd already figured out how to do it yourself within the given budget. So I assume you hit a wall that already cost you significantly more than the half manweek budget. I'm curious, what obstacle did you hit?
Yes - as long as the signing certificate belongs to the company and is not handed out to some random stranger who could use it to sign something else then the way the developer is paid is not an issue. It just needs to be a fair amount for the developer - for her/him to decide what is fair pay
