Hey everyone!
After asking around on various forums, I have come to the conclusion that it'd be in my best interest to have my project designed by someone competent, as I'm losing lots of time doing research that don't amount to anything.
I'm a visual artist, and for the needs of a specific project, I need to design a wall display unit, 38 by 38 by 8cm, on which I would be able to hook drawings on cardboard in order for them to rotate at around 33RPM.
I have a few requisite:
-
It has to run exclusively on batteries, AA or AAAs, the kind everyone can change. The whole thing has to be as efficient as possible so as not to drain the batteries too quickly.
-
It has to be as silent of a motor as possible.
-
I would like to implement an auto turn-off feature. There would a on/off button on the side of the display, and the unit would shut itself off after a fixed period. Could be 30 minutes, could be 15 minutes.
-
Having the possibility to slightly alter the RPMs is a big plus. Let's say, making it not be able to go past 45RPM, and not lower that 20RPM with a knob added to the circuit.
-
I have to build about 12 of those units, so I'd like the project to be a good mix of cost effective, but sturdy enough that it will last a long time if properly cared for. The units will be sold, and they should be easy to run and/or fix if any issue arises.
-
This is a bit of bonus, but I would like to have a PCB designed that would allow me to streamline the whole process. A pre-perforated PCB on which I can simply place every components and then solder them. I would prefer not having a mess of cable behind the display unit.

I'm based in Europe (Belgium to be exact), if that changes anything for the parts that should be used.
Someone, in another thread, pointed me to using an Arduino Pro Mini, which I would be completely okay with, since it's pretty low cost. I don't have any other leads apart from that.
I'm willing to pay someone to undertake the project, which should be fairly easy/standard. If you need any additional details, please feel free to ask.
I have never contracted a third party to design a circuit before and I have no idea what price is fair, so any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
