Hi, brand new here, working on my Arduino project which is going well, but have hit a small problem and not sure how to deal with it.
Before I share the problem I need help with, I just wanted to ask the question about whether anybody from Arduino offers any online one to one help (paid) or is it just a case of asking for help on this forum.
From the context of your question, I'd suggest you follow the forum guidelines, post your code, diagram, and problem description, and see how it goes. If you don't find the experience to your liking, then (perhaps) end the topic politely with a request for proposals for one-on-one help. You'll hopefully find the forum experience gives you access to a better range of expertise and opinions, but that can also be daunting, when you can't yet tell the difference between roses, and...
A while back I had a few PMs asking me for 1:1 paid help and I declined. Afterward I thought it might be a good idea, so I created a Codementor profile to support it. The profile has never been used for that I guess it just doesn't suit my personality.
I think the usual method of asking clearly defined questions on the forum works better in general. The only time I can see that not working so well is if you're developing something that needs to be confidential, and despite the number of people who ask me to sign NDA's (I won't), I have yet to see anything particularly earth-shattering come through this forum.
In my experience, the 1:1 stuff only works better when I'm building a specific device for someone and we need to have extensive discussions about the tradeoffs of various approaches, different ideas to try and so forth. Especially with non-technical buyers. I think it works better in that case because there's already a substantial amount of compensation at play and both parties are motivated to do a good job.
Hi, thank you for your response.
For me, it is a case of my dissertation project. I have created something and have been working on it for so many months now. On Friday I have my Poster day and I just cant get one thing to work. I am so close and it is frustrating. Sadly, I am not in a very good university (in the UK) and they are not able to help me. However, a friend recommended me coming on here.
The faster you post a description, your code, and a schematic, the sooner you can begin to get help. You need to do that regardless of whether there's $ involved, no crystal balls or mind readers here that I'm aware of.
Hi, i am not deliberately delaying put the question online, and i appreciate your explanation, its just that my son has my computer which I use for my project and he is out this evening. As soon as I can get my hands on the computer I can then access the coding and put the question up.
Please bear with me.
Ralph
Was not pressing, simply clarifying. Got you on my watch list! Make sure you either continue to use this thread(much preferred, though it might be in the wrong category), or at least post a link here to your new thread in whatever category is relevant.
Cheers!
I bought a US$100 win11 notebook and put Linux on it. Very slow on the web, and the IDE takes forever to boot, but I can use it for this Forum and programming Arduinos and other microcontrollers. If your child is anything like the 6 to 26 years old children I know, your computer will be crawling with Paris Hilton viruses.
