palm pilot screen
How hard would it be to interface with a screen from an old palm pilot?
I'd post a pic, but I dont know how to.
Oh, found a pic:
The circuit board for the screen is completely separate from the boards with processors and stuff. They are connected by a ribbon wire, with 20 connections.
This is probably not enough info to tell, but if it sounds hopeless, I still want the resistive touch sensor. How can I remove this without damaging it, as it is adhered to the screen?
P.s. I know I had originally posted this to bar sport. But I deleted that one and reposted it here. Is that okay? Sorry if it isn't.
Yep I thought it would be too complicated.
And yes, the touch screen thing is a four wire resistive thing.
So, can I just peel the digitizer off? Or will the bending damage it? Can I use some type of solvent?
Also, what is the easiest way to connect to the digitizer? It is a little piece of ribbon connector thing, and I can't do surface mount stuff, by the way
I don't think you should peel it off, you wold probably damage it. Just keep in on the nice glass surface of the display.
I think you can get a connector that will slip on to the ribbon cable end, but i don't know where. Maybee you can desolder the one from the Palm circuit board and solder wires to it ?
True, I hadn't though about soldering wires to the connector. Now that I think about it, it should be easy: the connections on the ribbon wire thing are >.5 mm. The connector has about 20-30 pins, but only 4 have traces soldered to them.
But still I want the touch pad to be off of the screen. Would goo-gone work?
