PC does not recognise Arduino UNO R4 WiFi

Hi
I have a copy of the Arduino UNO R4 which I have not yet been able to use as the board is not recognised by the PC (Windows 11). If I try to connect it I get a notification and if I open it the following message comes up:

(sorry, the PC is in Italian: the text in the image is a translation)
If anyone knows what this problem might be due to I would really appreciate any advice/solution.

Thank you very much, have a nice day everyone!

Hi @l-c. Make sure the USB cable is fully inserted into the USB socket on the UNO R4 WiFi board and your computer.

If that doesn't help, try using a different USB cable. This error might be caused by using a low quality, damaged, or defective cable.

Also, make sure that it's not just a charging cable.

Someone else here also having trouble with Win-11 not recognising Arduinos:

In your case, it does seem to the Windows itself that's not seeing the device.

Please don't engage in cross-posting.

Cross-posting is against the Arduino forum rules. The reason is that duplicate posts can waste the time of the people trying to help. Someone might spend a lot of time investigating and writing a detailed answer on one topic, without knowing that someone else already did the same in the other topic.

Please create one topic only for your question and choose the forum category carefully. If you have multiple questions about the same project then please ask your questions in the one topic as the answers to one question provide useful context for the others, and also you won’t have to keep explaining your project repeatedly.

Repeated duplicate posting could result in a temporary or permanent ban from the forum.

Thank you.

Hi J-M-L ...
... in the Italian section, since there was no answer to his question, I suggested to the OP to write in the section dedicated to the board (but not in the French section ).

So ... he is only half guilty

If you tried all of those tips and connection issues persist, make sure you use the latest Version of the Arduino IDE.

OP says it's not even being seen by Windows - so the IDE is irrelevant here.

Hi, same problem here
Can't be the IDE (windows can't recognize the board) and it can't be the cable (if the calbe is charging only, the board is powered correctly but from the pc you do not even see the windows error message)

EDIT: I tried with a fourth USB-C cable, asking my neighbor for it, and this one works

I have the same problem too, can you tell me the specifications of the cable that solves the problem?

Thank you

Giovanni

I bought a USB-C which is for power and data transfer. Just make sure you can trasfer files with the cable. If it's chargin only, it won't work

I’ve solved it by removing the board from the board manager and re-installing it. I had the same problem, but it wasn't the cable. Likewise, I hope this can help.

That wouldn't help if it's the PC itself that isn't seeing the device?

You really provided me with the solution. I used the USB-C cable from my phone and it resolve the issue of not recognizing my Uno R4 wifi when using a USB-C cable provide with my headphones.

Thanks

Hello everyone, I have difficulty with my Arduino UNO R4. It is not recognized with Windows 8.1 and Windows 11. I have tested with an USB 3 cable (blue). I think it is a driver issue but none drivers I downloaded work. Can someone help me ?

Hi @phcord. Please try this troubleshooting procedure and then report your results in a reply on this forum thread:

:exclamation: This procedure is not intended to solve the problem. The purpose is to gather more information.

  1. Disconnect the USB cable of the Arduino board from your computer.
  2. Open the Windows Device Manager.
  3. Select View > Devices by type from the Device Manager menus.
  4. Open the "View" menu.
  5. If there is a âś“ to the left of the "Show hidden devices" menu item, click on "Show hidden devices" to disable it.
  6. Take note of the contents of the "Other devices" and "Ports (COM & LPT)" sections of the Device Manager tree.
  7. Connect the Arduino board to your computer with a USB cable.
  8. Select Action > Scan for hardware changes" from the Device Manager menus.

Did you see any new device appear in the Device Manager tree after doing this? If so, please tell us where it is located in the tree and what it is named.

You can repeat steps 5-8 multiple times if you are not sure.
