Thanks John, I only got it today and so I am learning.

Hi, I am unable to get any progress with this Uno. I have the LED flashing orange and will get back to the supplier after the holiday.

Genuine, or clone?

Can you provide the listing here you purchased it of a high detail picture of the Uno with nothing attached.
You have have one that needs a driver installed.

Genuine. I will get a picture.

Have you installed the IDE?

Yes IDE installed.

Does it appear in the ports list of the "tools" menu?

Yes strangely it does show up in tools, Uno and also the port.

Next question, have you tried selecting it, and uploading a Blink sketch? You didn't ever say. Also do you have anything plugged into the Arduino, besides the USB to the PC?

Hi guys I must thank you for all of your help. I am now making progress. I could not run my Blink program but I tried the supplied Blink program and it works, and I can alter the duration of the LED. I will work out what I was doing wrong and I will be back.

Hi, after a few days with my Uno, (it's been a bit of a learning curve), it is working properly. Firstly I didn't know that Blink was already loaded, and I assumed it was some sort of error code. I think that information should be included in the purchase. Secondly, my programs didn't work because of the 'curly brackets' something I am working out now. Anyway I am having fun.

That could have been easily dealt with here, if you had mentioned it in your post. The forum guidelines suggest posting all the information you can, up front, exactly because of things like that.

Hi, it's because I thought that the problem was because my Arduino does not show up in the Device Manager, but I do agree.
