No problem, glad it's working now. Think about what I said in reply #12 re. github.

The library from Renzo Mischianti is not good. I work well if all pins are output or input. But fails when using a mix of input and output pins.

I replaced it with GitHub - RobTillaart/PCF8574: Arduino library for PCF8574 - I2C IO expander and all my problems was solved.
