Brainstorming a project using persistence of vision on a large scale. I am looking for info on the speeds necessary for the smooth looking effects. I can find info on rpm of a wheel. However, what I want to do is linear.
Does anyone know how fast would a light bar have to be moving in one plane for the effect to work? Thanks.
Would something akin to a sports stadium scoreboard be equivalent? If so, a search on that yields some results that seem to indicate that 30 frames per second is the "magic" number (just as it is for movies, tv, etc.)
There is a large (about 2 meters across) cylinder in Schiphol Airport Holland that uses this method to show TV pictures. I think each picture is repeated three times round the cylinder. You can do the maths from that.
