picoPower and bootloaders

I am looking into purchasing an ATMega168 chip. I cant seem to find a solid answer or I am inept at searching. I spent well over 1.5 hours with no concrete avail. Do I need a special bootloader to use picoPower technology? Also, what is the difference in converters of A/D 8x10b and A/D 6x10b

Thanks!

No.

You will have to use a bootloader compiled for the ATmega168 processor.

Also, what is the difference in converters of A/D 8x10b and A/D 6x10b

I assume it's the number of analog input pins. 8 input pins x 10 bits of resolution versus 6 input pins x 10 bits of resolution.

Thanks!!

A/D 8x10b and A/D 6x10b

The non-DIP packages for the the atmegaxx8 chips have 32 pins instead of 28, and use two of the pins to add an extra two inputs to the A-D converter (8 channels instead of 6.) This pins ONLY connect to the A-D; they can't be used for digital IO.
