Hi I have a couple questions on how I would go about controlling a router to provide variable speeds and to keep them when under load. I found a thread that seems simple enough and should be a viable solution, however I'm not totally sure what the input signal(PWM?) is. I'd also appreciate any input you have as there is probably a better solution

In the end I'd like to have my own poor mans "SuperPid" and since I have a few arduinos(plus a small cnc machine for the pcb ) I want to give it a shot. www.SuperPID.com - Super-PID Closed-loop Router Speed Controller
For the actual reading of the speed, I'm thinking a reflective sensor of some sort and plug the RPMs into a PID algorithm/sketch.
Thanks for your help and patience,
