PID library... slow calcuation speed?

I was looking into using the PID library for some robotics. The examples provided are extremely slow and take around a second to compute.

Is there a problem? I'd prefer not to make a PI program...

Please do not speculate on the atmega328 calculation speed unless you know what youre talking about

nevermind found it. There is a sample rate setting in the library
