Piezo Element Over Distance

I am creating drum triggers from piezo elements (found here) all wired to one central Arduino Mega 2560 that will manage the sound/vibration sensors and LED strips. The longest distance between a trigger and board is 5-6ft. I plan to use 18AWG shielded wire between each with a 1Mohm resistor in parallel. Will the 18 AWG allow my piezo to get its signal all the way back or am I missing something else that is needed.

More precisely I am wanting to use this speaker wire, 9 conductor 18awg is needed, and I want to use the 1AMP signal wire for the piezo as the others will be used for LEDs and mic audio.

Any size wire is fine, as long as it is shielded.

The speaker cable is not shielded.

Thanks.
