I want to employ an identical setup at the doorways between rooms in my house to create accurate room presence detection for my home automation. However, I'm pretty unfamiliar with Arduino coding and would love to take a look at what you've created. Do you have anything you can share?
I'll have to use them in pairs to determine direction, and they'll probably be susceptible to people standing in the doorway, but I can account for that with some well placed delays and coordinating information from infrared motion sensors. If I can 'gate' the entrances and exits of each room as well as the top and bottom of stairs, I should have something much more reliable than BLE + motion sensors.
