I've just brought a R503 fingerprint sensor from PiHut and it's wiring is bunched up in a white TTL serial connection plug.
Can I just snip this off and solder the wires to use this in my kids arduino project? I did ask PiHut but they didn't want to say.

Yes, as long as you know the purpose of each wire. It is, after all, just a serial connection
