Pin/APD set up

Hi,

I was wondering if you lovely people could comment on the feasibility of a using my Uno with two Si APDS for to detect fluorescence intensity coming through a .4 mm single core FC patch cable.

What I managed to get my hands on is a Hamamatsu S1227 si photodiode with a Max reverse voltage of 5 V.

Am I mistaken in thinking that I should be able to get a decent digital readout with a 1M resistor and a decent op amp for that range, and if so, I presume the 741 wont be any good at that voltage. Can you point me to any circuit suggestion? I have seen the template ones on their website but am struggling a bit with suitability? Also any suggestions on how I can mount my FC patch to the diode?

Also, have a +15/-15 V Apd that I am trying to run off a voltage divider, but worried about the output voltage and my arduino.

Happy Easter and thanks so much for any suggestions

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Have you downloaded the pdf that I have attached from the hamamastu site, it gives suggested circuits and applications.
