I used a LIDAR to measure the OD of a pipe. I did not do it to get a measurement, I did it to get an image. I had a LIDAR mounted on a platform that scanned side to side. I placed the pipe at so many inches away against a wall. The LIDAR scanned the wall and pipe. I then used the distance measurements to recreate the 'image' of a pipe against a wall. The pipe was 72CM from the LIDAR focal point. I was able to create an image on a OLED display showing the pipe against the wall.
