Hello Forum,

Can I use a PIR sensor to detect small, localised movements?

Clarification: I'd like to use a PIR sensor to detect a baby's movements (flapping of arms & legs) in order to automatically rotate a baby-mobile that's attached to a motor. Before I get into it, I just want to know if a PIR sensor can actually achieve this since the motion is not coming in and out of sensor range, but localised to the baby (who is lying down).

Probably. Why don't you try it? I guess you are referring to a people type baby?
