My project requires the sense of heat that can detect between various objects( for example animals, humans, rodents) from the heat radiation given off each. I am new to arduino and was wondering If it's possible to give a digital value for the pir sensor to tell the difference between objects? I know it can tell when it senses movement or heat but not sure about a possible digital value. Also if this is not possible is there a cheap sensor that can detect body heat that records a digital output from each detection? I know thermal imaging can but they are very expensive. Also any other advise would be much appreciated!
Thank you so much in advance.
As far as I know, you're right about the PIR: my understanding is, and this is why the pir needs time to settle, that it detects disturbance in the heat pattern. So as long as the object is able to disturb the pattern, there's no way of deducing the size of the object: disturbance is disturbance.
