Pir sensor or else?

I need to detect if there is a person in front of the sensor not the motion but the waves emitted by the person to detect their presence, is that possible?

PIR operate by the change across various zones determined by the lens i.e. movement across not into the zone.Hope this helps.A quick google for images will show this.

a PIR looks at any (every) section of the viewing area and monitors the total heat People emitt heat, the PIR 'sees' the CHANGE from the last reading and that sets off the sensor. if you remain motionless, the sensor will eventually filter you out as background. the change in reading is what is monitored

Had a quick look through the data sheet (49 pages) but although they refer to scan arrangement, there does not appear to be any detail on the range.

Seems a cut-down version (4px) of a grid-EYE (64px). Leo..
