Hello I have a question, I have been seeing many different ways to hook a PIR sensor to arduino and I am getting confused. When buying one from Spark Fun "PIR Motion Sensor" do you need anything else in order to hook it up. Or is there a certain kind of PIR sensor that works better in terms of attaching it to the arduino board.
Whether it's from Sparkfun or Adafruit, both have great support on their webpages that give you sketches and how to hook it up, along with relevant datasheets. You should try visiting them.
I don't know what its called at the end of the wires on the sensor( the white housing) but would you have to get anything to connect it to the board
Some PIR sensors have pins, some have wires with a connector.
Dupond wires work for both.
They come in male-male, male-female, and female-female.
You need at least the first two versions, and a breadboard.
Leo..
They added a JST connector to the ends of the wires in the event you wanted to plug it into a board. For your purposes, just use a red, white, and black wire and push one end into the connector matching the corresponding color and plug into your arduino. No biggie.
OK, I will try to get this sensor to work. Thank you for the suggestions.
