PLC career, need to pick a direction!

I'm moving toward PLC as a career, hopefully eventually as an independent contractor, and of course internet searches give you two dozen different paths to consider.
I don't have a degree and don't plan to get one, but I'm considering cert thru George Brown or Udemy, etc. I have an Arduino now (but I bought one with a German book

Sorry, I chopped off half of my post, but the basics are there.

What does this have to do with Arduino?
An Arduino is not a PLC

Habit 2: start with the end in mind.

If you don't know where you want to end up you can pick whatever direction you want.

Companies don't hire people who don't know anything. They hire you for what you know today and invest in what you will learn tomorrow.

What company do you want to work for? What do you need to know before they will hire you?

If you don't understand an existing company then you have no chance of starting your own company which is what an independent contractor is.
