Is it preferable to design PLC type power wiring with ferruled or ring terminal ends on the wires going directly to the motors? Is wiring motors directly to the switching control modules considered good practice or should the controllers be wired to a terminal block with the motors on the other side of the block?
Impossible to say - it depends on the application
- Permanent industrial installation
- Home project
3 .voltages and currents involved
4 . Components being used
The general rule of tidy and logical applies.
I mean ferrules vs ring ends.
Both are ok and standard industrial type fittings , to suit different type of termination , you can’t really use a ring fitting with a din rail screw clamp type terminal rail for example or visa versa.
If it’s for a particular item ask the manufacturers advice if there is nothing in the instructions or web site
